If you have a black walnut in the garden, you may have seen it happen: certain plants struggle, wilt, and then simply disappear. The culprit is not poor gardening but a toxin building up in the soil. The interesting part is what happens with Asian lilies. They are among the most popular summer-flowering plants - and they often respond surprisingly well to juglone, the notorious compound produced by the walnut family.
What juglone does to your garden
